Ladies and gentlemen, the final countdown has arrived! With only 58 days to go until the wedding, we’re in the final stage of wedding planning.
And while I had felt somewhat organised up until December, I let go of the wedding planning in the final month of the year, telling myself ‘the wedding is only next year’. Well, 2019 is here, and there is no more waiting for next year to get back to business! And now I’m looking back, wondering who this girl was who decided to relax and forget about the wedmin! That being said, I think it was important to take a step back and enjoy the holiday season, as this was our last Christmas with our families as singletons. I think we made the most of the last few moments as an engaged couple getting ready to come together and start our very own little family.
Arnold and I also took time in December to tidy and fix up our new home together. And by ‘we’ I mean Arnold did all the hard work while I took on the role of project manager! Arnold painted, tiled, took down cabinets, put up cabinet, did some DIY electrical work (a very brave man), and together we hung up curtains, shopped for furniture and appliances, and turned Arnold’s bachelor pad into a cosy home for two.
Despite all of this, there are still lots of exciting things to look forward to as the day draws closer. The kitchen tea (which is being organised by my bridesmaids and being kept a complete surprise), choosing the menu for our reception, getting a glimpse of my bridal makeup at my trial, and the final wedding dress fitting! The butterflies are slowly finding their way to my tummy, but I’m incredibly excited, nervous, stressed and happy, all at the same time.
In January, after all the DIY work, I finally took a peep at my diary, and decided it was time to get started on the final plans for the wedding.
Now that all the ‘fun’ parts of the wedding planning have been ticked off my list, we’ve been left to face lots of admin tasks, and schedule meetings to finalise the details of the day. Then there are meetings with the venue coordinator to discuss every detail of the day, the flower and decor designer to finalise the table decor, the lawyers to discuss the ante-nuptial contract – the list goes on!
As our wedding day nears, I get more and more excited to share the final big day with you all!
