After August’s moments of feeling helpless and completely disorganized, I took the month of September to take a step back, take time to ‘chill out’, and get my head wrapped around the wedding planning and find calm in the chaos. And in doing so, I’ve successfully found my mojo again, and the pieces of the wedding puzzle are starting to fall into place.
I had a few friends message me and chat to me in person after reading The Blogging Brides Diaries expressing their concern because I seem stressed, offering their help and advice; this made made me realise two things: firstly, that my friends and family are actually reading my blog, which surprised me, not because I didn’t think they would support me, but because they’ve taken the time to join me on this journey (let me take a moment to say thank you to all of you). Secondly, because I realised that I may have been a little bit dramatic. Maybe. Just a little bit.
But after the sincere messages and kind thoughts sent to me, I realized that everything always has a way of working itself out, and this was the driving force behind me finding my sanity! After many lists were made, and Pinterest boards reviewed, I finally felt like I had an idea of what I was doing and found direction again.
September was a fun month of wedding planning because we got to plan some fun and exciting things for the wedding, including meeting with Pastryworks to discuss our wedding cake! Cherilyn from Pastryworks was so helpful and accommodating, and helped us to bring the cake to life. I drew inspiration from some of the beautiful options on Majestic Weddings, including this rustic and whimsical cake on the left, and floral masterpiece on the right.
Cherilyn had some great suggestions and tips when it came to choosing the number of tiers we need to feed our guests, as well as creating a cake that doesn’t break the bank! And while I know that their cake is going to look beautiful, I have no doubt that it will taste delicious too, as Pastryworks is known for its decadent desserts and melt-in-your-mouth pastries!
I also sat down with our very own graphic designer to discuss our wedding stationery, and we both realized that, while Pinterest is a great source of inspiration, it can also be overwhelming when you’re faced with lots of different ideas! That being said, in one short afternoon, we narrowed down our choices and our designer is currently working on the wedding invitation design! When my friend offered her design services to us, I was so grateful. As an experienced graphic designer and a friend who understands exactly what I like, she is the perfect person for the job!
And finally, the most exciting moment of the month – finding dresses for my bridesmaids and my flower girl! On Saturday, we visited Chocolates for Breakfast in Richmond Hill, where the girls got to try on a few dresses I had found and fallen in love with. We had a great time with Heather, who was so helpful, especially when it came to finding a dress that would look gorgeous on all three of them! We also found a pretty dress among their range of adorable flower girl dresses. Chocolates for Breakfast has also gifted me with a stunning Garter Set, and I can’t wait to share that with you too.
With so many plans in place, and with six months to go until the wedding, I’m wondering what I’m going to write about in next month’s The Blogging Bride Diaries! That being said, there are still small details that need to be decided on, wedding favours to be made closer to the time, and many decisions that we’ll only be able to make just before the wedding, so I know that there will still be much to share in the chapters to come!
If you’re planning a wedding and you’re looking for gorgeous bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, make an appointment to see Heather at Chocolates for Breakfast. Besides the fact that their dresses are beautiful, each dress is a custom design made to fit each bridesmaid perfectly. Have a look at their website, or take a look at their Facebook page for more information and pictures of their dresses.
