“You’ve never eaten here before? I’m not a fan of fish, but this place is awesome”. Sitting down in Fish Finder in Mount Pleasant on a drizzling Tuesday evening, these are the words I’m met with, uttered by a regular visitor to the restaurant. Having just ordered my starter, this was a good sign and this only increased my excitement to try something new and unknown.
For this week’s Tayla Tastes, I visited The Kindred Kitchen, a plant-based restaurant and smoothie bar in Richmond Hill for my very first vegan dining experience.
This week’s Tayla Tastes took me to Banneton Bakery & Cafe in the heart of Walmer. While this is only the second instalment of my food journey in Port Elizabeth, I may already have found my favourite budget ‘Tayla Tastes’.
Port Elizabethans are well acquainted with Stanley Street and its fare – from the cocktail concoctions at Salt, to the woodfire pizzas of Angelos, and the tasty tapas on offer at Two Olives. With so many restaurants to choose from, I find it difficult to stray from the options I’m so comfortable with, and explore the rest of the street in search of something new – and perhaps a new favourite to find foodie comfort in.
