Attending my first #ECMeetUp

For this week’s Throwback Thursday blog post, I thought I’d share my first #ECMeetUp experience with you, as well as what I learned about blogging, and how you can get cheap flights to Port Elizabeth so that you can attend the next event!

A few weeks ago, I attended the #ECMeetUp at Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth. The annual event – organized by local bloggers Luchae Williams and Eleanor Douglas-Meyers – gives bloggers and influencers in Nelson Mandela Bay the opportunity to connect and network. It was my first #ECMeetUp, so I didn’t really know what to expect. That being said, the event was amazing, and all my expectations were met! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the beautiful décor and the stunning venue. From the welcome drinks, to the high tea table, I think I can speak for all the bloggers and influencers in attendance when I say that we were all made to feel really special!

Besides enjoying a yummy high tea, I got to meet some awesome bloggers and influencers, and learned a great deal about what it means to be a blogger from our guest speakers, Megan Kelly, a South African beauty and parenting blogger, and Lyle Scritten, a blogger and Digital PR Strategist from TravelStart. Both Megan and Lyle are accomplished bloggers, and both shared helpful tips on how to grow a blog, how to approach brands to do collaborations, and how to be an authentic content creator.

I can’t talk about the #ECMeetUp without mentioning the awesome lucky draw prizes and the goodie bags! Everyone who attended the event received a goodie bag filled with products and freebies. To see what was in my goodie bag, check out my #ECMeetUp goodie bag blog post. I also won a hair voucher for a hair treatment at Stylish Steppers Hair & Beauty Studio, so if you see me out and about with a head of gorgeous hair, you know who to call when you need to have your hair done!

After I shared some photos from the event on social media, a few bloggers from Jo’burg and Cape Town contacted me saying that, although they are not based in Port Elizabeth, they’d love to attend the next #ECMeetUp. If you’re a South African blogger or influencer, check out this flight bookings feature and get yourself a flight to Port Elizabeth so that you can attend the next #ECMeetUp!
