Those who know me know that I love online shopping. There is nothing quite like the thrill of a good online sale, skipping queues and the delivery man arriving with your purchase. Online shopping is a must if you’d rather spend your weekend in bed or on the beach than queuing in the shops. I’d like to believe that I am a seasoned online shopper, so I’m going to impart my online shopping knowledge to you.
Whether you’re an advocate for online retail therapy, or you’re a newbie to the scene, I’d suggest you check out these top South African online stores.
Superbalist is the queen of online fashion stores. The store sells clothes for women, men and kids, as well as a variety of furniture and home decor. They stock brands like Nike, Superga, Guess, Vans, Fujifilm and Cotton On. They have a great, user-friendly app which you can download from the App Store or Google Play. You also get free shipping if your order is more than R350. Superbalist is known for its amazing sales, and if you download the app, you’ll be notified the next time they have a good deal or sale.
Takealot is like an online version of Makro or Game. They sell computers, books, movies, makeup, toys, sports equipment, clothing – name it and they probably sell it! You can browse their online shop on your computer or on their app (which you can download from the App Store or Google Play). Takealot has some great deals, including Daily Deals and App Only Deals. Their customer service is also good, and I’ve only ever waited once for more than a week for an order (and it was only because they were waiting for stock from the supplier).
If you love to spend time in the kitchen, you’ll love Yuppiechef. The kitchen and homeware store stocks the coolest gadgets and gizmos for your home, including cookware, kitchenware, bakeware and tableware. Yuppiechef also sell local craft beer, gin and wine that you won’t find in PE’s bottle stores. Their customer service is good too. The last time I received an order from them, they sent me a handwritten thank you note with my purchase. They offer free delivery for orders over R300, and you can have your order delivered to selected PostNet stores.
Cotton on sa
Cotton On finally has its own South African online store. As a big Cotton On fan, this is super exciting news! The Australian brand has two stores in PE – one at Walmer Park Shopping Centre and one at Baywest Shopping Centre – but now you can order their clothes online. Their online store sells clothes for women, men and kids, as well as stationery and office supplies from their Typo brand. Their standard delivery is free for orders over R500, and they offer express delivery for R80 (R20 for orders over R500) which is a great option if you simply can’t wait for those high waisted jeans or that pair of Rubi boots.
Did you know that Woolworths has an online store? While Woolworths stores can be found all over PE (and the rest of the country), they also have an online store that stocks items that I often can’t find in PE stores (which is really convenient). They sell all the products that you’d find in their retail stores, including food, beauty and homeware products. The store offers free delivery for first-time orders, after which the delivery fee is between R50 and R95.
